Access and selection

According to the Royal Decree 99/2011, January 28th, which regulates the official doctorate education, it is necessary to accomplish the following requirements in order to access the DIPE program:

  • To have an official, Spanish Graduate and Master Degree or equivalent title.
  • To have an official, Spanish university title or of any other member State of the European Higher Education Area, having accomplished a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 must be of Master Degree.
  • To have an official, Spanish university title of Graduate, with a minimal duration of 300 ECTS credits, according to EC legislation. Such applicants will have to sign for a complementary remedial course on investigation methods, corresponding to Master Degree.
  • To have a foreign university title with equivalence to Master Degree and the particular national accreditation to access doctorate studies.

Studies providing access to the DIPE are those related to the following areas: Psychology, Pedagogy, Teacher Education, Educational Sciences, Educational Psychology, Linguistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Audiovisual Communication, other related Studies (previous evaluation of applicant’s academic record). In any case, the reference title is the MIPE.

The Coordination Committee of the DIPE is responsible of evaluating the applications. In certain cases, taking the candidates’ documentation into consideration, the Committee might establish exceptions and take individual decisions, always in accordance with the legal requirements. In such cases, the Committee might require from candidates the completion of additional remedial courses of the MIPE (according to paragraph 7.2. of the Royal Decree 99/2011).

Admission and Evaluation criteria

The Committee will evaluate the personal documentation of every candidate (academic record, previous education, previous experience) with regards: (1) the individual motivation to enter the program; (2) previous knowledge in the field of psychology, education, and educational psychology; (3) foreign languages proficiency; and (4) academic record.

Decision and Communication

After the evaluation of applications, the Coordination Committee of DIPE will decide upon admissions. Candidates will be informed individually.
